With athleisure growing in popularity over recent years, fitness clothing is no longer limited to the gym. Fitness wear still allows you to express yourself and your style, whilst enabling us to prioritise comfort as part of our fashion choices.

To delve into fitness as a style trend, Specsavers has partnered with London-based content creator, Zsanett Virag, whose style journey is all about showcasing your personality through a love of colour and accessories.
Specsavers is committed to helping people express their individuality and finding a style suited to them, and they wanted to find out exactly how Zsanett expresses her own style in the world of fitness.
Q: What does style mean to you and how do you express this day-to-day?
Style is all about being able to showcase and express my personality. Iโm someone who loves comfort, but I never want to sacrifice looking and feeling great with what I wear.
I have to wear a uniform for my job, so I can only showcase my style with my accessories, including how I wear my hair, my nails, make up and of course my glasses.
Q: How long have you been interested in fitness?
Iโve had an interest in fitness for more than ten years, starting in my teenage years. It started with the ambition of wanting to lose weight by being active, which led to me deciding to study fitness and become a personal trainer. I fell in love with the process of helping people feel better in their skin and reaching their goals.
Q: How does fitness allow you to express your style?
Fitness allows me to express my style as I get to wear activewear that makes me feel confident in the gym. I donโt shy away from the accessories either, as I like to wear colourful caps, and I also have separate glasses for training and prescription sunglasses for my walks outside. If I feel great when Iโm exercising, I know I am going to have a better workout because of this.
Q: What advice would you give others interested in fitness and expressing their style?
One of the most important things is to avoid waiting until you reach a certain weight or goal to wear the clothes you like. Wear shorts, a crop top and bold colours if this is what makes you feel happy when youโre exercising.
Q: What are your top three styling tips?
Put comfort first, and for me this refers to my footwear. I enjoy walking outside, so need to make sure I have comfy shoes but that they still look good.
Express yourself with colour. Choosing colour that you love is a great way to show your personality. I love green and pink, so even if I have quite a neutral outfit, I like to add a splash of either colour โ or sometimes even both!
Donโt forget accessories, whether that be hats, caps, or your glasses. A simple accessory adds so much to an outfit and can elevate any look.
Q: Specsavers promotes their โstyle for youโ messaging which encourages individuality and helping to find the right style to suit you โ how important do you think it is for people to find their own style?
I completely agree with this messaging, and I think it is incredibly important for people to find their own style. We’re currently living in a world that is dominated by viral trends and digital interactions and I think in this circumstance our clothing becomes our voice. Finding the right style for you is a journey of self-discovery and an expression that everyone should experience.
Showing our style is a way of expressing our personality – it communicates who we are without any words needed. Before I found my style, I felt like I couldnโt show the โreal meโ and would often hide behind clothes and glasses that didnโt really suit me. When I finally found my style, it felt like a door had opened to a new world and I could finally step outside.
Q: Do you like to express your style with eyewear/glasses?
Absolutely. I specifically matched the golden frame of my glasses with my piercings which was a match made in heaven and it always makes me feel amazing when I leave the house.
Q: What are your thoughts on the geometrics trend and how would you incorporate it into fashion?
I love it. I avoid โtraditionalโ glasses myself as I prefer metal frames, bigger lenses and a pop of colour. One of the first things people notice on our faces is our glasses, so itโs a good way to express ourselves and show some of our personality.
Q. How does your style change as we enter the colder months?
When itโs colder, we tend to wear less colour, but I actively try to fight that by choosing colourful accessories, and wearing things that make me happy. I really feel the cold, so big patterned scarfs and fuzzy socks are a must.
I canโt help it but love my fun glasses and colourful accessories, so plan to keep wearing them no matter what time of year.
