This summer, Emmy Award–winning actor, writer, and comedian Bryan Safi is bringing his first solo comedy show Are You Mad At Me?? to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Following sold-out runs in Los Angeles and New York, he’s landing at Underbelly Bristo Square from 30 July to 24 August.
Here are five reasons you’ll want to snag a ticket to this hilarious, heartfelt hour:
1. It’s Bryan Safi’s Solo Debut at the Fringe
You may know Bryan as Josh Russo on ABC’s 9-1-1, or from scene-stealing turns in Superstore, Modern Family, Search Party, and more. Now, he’s hitting the stage solo with a show that’s equal parts stand-up, storytelling, and theatrical chaos.
2. It Asks the Ultimate Question: “Are You Mad At Me?”
The show revolves around the single question that has haunted Bryan for years: “Are you mad at me?” From there, it spirals into tales of childhood survival, awkward adult relationships, and the constant terror of sending a text and waiting for the reply. It’s deeply personal, painfully relatable, and extremely funny.
3. Expect Emotional Whiplash (In the Best Way)
Bryan’s storytelling swings from laugh-out-loud absurdity to moments of raw honesty. One minute he’s talking about a horny apartment, the next he’s unpacking shame, therapy, and body image issues. And yes, there’s a bit involving a t-shirt and a train museum that nearly broke him.
4. He’s a Podcast Powerhouse
Beyond the stage, Bryan co-hosts the long-running comedy podcast Attitudes! (formerly Throwing Shade) and Ask Ronna, which has featured big names like Conan O’Brien and Paul Feig. With over ten million downloads, he’s built a comedy empire around smart, irreverent takes on gender, pop culture, and queer life.
5. He’s Got Rave Reviews
Bryan’s comedic talent has earned praise from fellow performers and major outlets alike:
“Bryan Safi is everywhere!” — New York Magazine
“The King of Shade.” — Out Magazine
“Bryan is as brilliant as he is hilarious.” — Andy Cohen
“The funniest man alive.” — Michelle Collins
“He’s so fucking funny.” — Arden Myrin
If you’ve ever spiralled about whether someone’s mad at you, this show’s for you. It’s sharp, queer, and full of heart.
