This summer, the historic Handel Hendrix House in Mayfair—once home to Baroque composer George Frideric Handel and rock legend Jimi Hendrix—bursts into life with events for music lovers of all ages. From live gigs to creative workshops, here are five unmissable things to put in your diary.
1. Join the First-Ever Hendrix Summer School
🎸 When? Monday 4 August – Thursday 7 August 2025
If you know a talented young guitarist or singer aged 11–18, this is the opportunity of the summer. The brand-new Hendrix Summer School is an intensive four-day programme led by guitarist Nigel Jones and acclaimed songwriter-producer MaJiKer (aka The Song Doctor). Participants can:
- Dive deep into guitar technique or songwriting
- Collaborate with other young musicians
- Perform daily jam sessions for family and friends
- Meet Tim Bennett-Hart, CEO of RSL Awards, for an exclusive Q&A
💷 Cost: £150 for four days, or £80 for a two-day block
2. Experience Baroque and Roll Live Music
🎶 When? Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 July, and Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 July
Two musical worlds collide in these all-day live sessions, included in your general admission ticket:
- From 1–3pm, step into Handel’s elegant dining room to hear music by Handel and his contemporaries on harpsichord and historic instruments.
- From 2–4pm, soak up 60s blues and rock in Jimi’s bedroom, recreating the atmosphere when Jimi and friends jammed late into the night.
3. See The Jimi Sessions with Kelly Rosenthal
🎤 When? Thursday 17 July
An intimate evening that promises to be unforgettable: LA-based singer-songwriter Kelly Rosenthal will perform from the actual bed in Jimi Hendrix’s flat. Inspired by Jeff Buckley and Sinead O’Connor, Kelly’s music blends folk, blues, and rock into something truly emotive.
🌟 Audience members sit on the floor around the bed—a unique way to connect with the music and the space.
🎟️ Tickets: £25
4. Discover the House After Hours with Curator Twilight Tours
🕯️ When? Thursday 4 August
Ever wondered what it was really like to live at 25 Brook Street? These special Twilight Tours are led by expert curators and let you explore the private worlds of Handel and Hendrix after dark. Perfect for a summer’s evening before dinner or a West End show.
