Plate Restaurant From Arnaud Stevens Officially Opens

With a menu that personifies ‘English/French fusion’, ‘fine eating’ and ‘locally sourced produce’, we are happy to announce, following an extended soft launch period, the official opening of Arnaud Stevens’ first restaurant: Plate, located at London’s M By Montcalm in Shoreditch. Plate focuses on beautiful food with accessible price points, and with owner and Chef Director Arnaud having previously worked with Pierre Koffmann, Gordon Ramsay, Jason Atherton and Richard Corrigan to name a few, the offering promises to be something truly special.

A keen chef from a young age, Arnaud’s French and English heritage lends itself wonderfully both to his menus and his passion for food. His family history is steeped in food hospitality, with influences from his great uncle Henri Chedanne who ran the “Boucherie Normand” in Bouaget, Paris, and his great grandmother, who was a private chef at Chateau Angers,
both reflecting beautifully in his food. He also spent many holidays in the Loire Valley, which saw him working alongside his uncle prepping locally shot roe deers, lamb, beef and poultry, opening his eyes to new techniques and the importance of locally sourced produce, knowledge that has become invaluable in a career that spans 22 years.

Arnaud’s extensive experience is showcased in the new A La Carte menu at Plate. His French heritage means bread is a key point of any meal, and Plate’s Bread Flight, which includes Arnaud’s signature Marmite Bread, is not to be missed. Alongside this, the Salted Atlantic Hake with baby leek, courgette and vanilla mash is the perfect light option for long summer days. For those wanting a more substantial dish the Herdwick Lamb Rump with Isle Of Wight tomato, caper & pistou is an excellent choice.

Just as much thought and precision has gone into the dessert with the menu beautifully combining French and English techniques for a unique flavour experience. Favourites include the Valrhona Caramelia Chocolate Mouse served with plain perdu, hazelnut and passion fruit; an interesting mix of flavours and textures sure to tempt those on the strictest of diets.

Located in a stunning setting in the heart of Shoreditch, with interiors that are a pitch-perfect mix of relaxed contemporary and high-octane glamour, the dining room has been zoned to create smaller, more intimate spaces that are flooded with natural light, allowing floor to ceiling windows to provide you with great views of the hustle and bustle of life in Shoreditch.

Arnaud Stevens adds, “The word ‘Plate’ in my mind has always come from a story a great chef once told me: “put it on the plate and allow your emotions to shine through the plate of food you produce”, and this is exactly why I have always had great drive to run my own business and why I opened Plate. During the extended launch period I was able to work with my excellent team to create an exquisite menu, with dishes that encompass my favourite aspects of English and French cooking. I’m so excited to now be officially open and planning even more exciting things for the entire Plate brand”.

For something more relaxed, Plate Bake and Bar – artisanal bakery by day, cocktail bar by night – is located just below Plate restaurant on the ground floor of the M By Montcalm. It is the perfect light and airy space to enjoy a long afternoon tea or quick post work cocktail.

To finish Arnaud adds “My aim is to grow the Plate brand into a leading restaurant, bakery and caterer known for excellence in all areas, through a committed attitude, leading creativity and passion that shines through at every service or occasion.
