5 Things to Know About West End LIVE 2026

There are some London events that just feel like part of the summer, and West End LIVE is definitely one of them. For one weekend, Trafalgar Square stops being just a landmark and becomes a huge open-air stage, filled with songs from the shows people love, performers giving it everything, and crowds who know every word.

West End LIVE returns on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June 2026, and the full schedule has now been announced. More than 50 shows will perform across the weekend, from long-running favourites to new musicals, concert productions, immersive shows and a few surprises saved for the day itself.

Best of all, it is still completely free.

1. It is basically a love letter to London theatre

West End LIVE has often been described as โ€œGlastonbury for theatre loversโ€, which is about right, although with fewer tents and a much better chance of hearing a show tune before lunch.

The event is presented by Westminster City Council and Official London Theatre, and every year it brings thousands of people into Trafalgar Square to celebrate the West End. You do not need to be a theatre expert to enjoy it. In fact, one of the best things about West End LIVE is that you can discover a show you had not even thought about booking.

This year it runs from 11am to 5pm on Saturday 20 June and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday 21 June.

2. The line-up is packed with West End favourites

The 2026 schedule is a reminder of just how strong London theatre is at the moment.

Saturday includes performances from Wicked, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, The Devil Wears Prada, Cabaret, Hamilton, Les Misรฉrables, The Phantom of the Opera, The Book of Mormon, Operation Mincemeat, Beetlejuice The Musical, Mamma Mia!, Six, Disneyโ€™s Hercules and many more.

Sunday brings another big day, with Disneyโ€™s The Lion King, Matilda The Musical, My Neighbour Totoro, Waitress, Kinky Boots, The Karate Kid โ€“ The Musical, Dirty Dancing, Little Shop Of Horrors, Heathers: The Musical, Jersey Boys and Titanique among those taking to the stage.

For anyone who loves musicals, it is the sort of weekend where the only real problem is deciding when to nip away for a coffee.

3. There are plenty of newer and unexpected names too

West End LIVE is not just about the biggest, longest-running shows. This yearโ€™s event also makes room for newer productions, concert performances and shows that bring something a little different to the square.

Look out for appearances from English National Opera, Into The Woods, Jane Eyre, Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical, Love Never Dies In Concert, Sirens: The Concert Series, RepresentAsian: An Evening Of Asian Talent and Noรซl Coward In The West End: Robert Hazle & Helena Northcote.

There will also be surprise performances announced live across the weekend, which always adds to the sense that anything could happen.

4. The presenters should keep the whole weekend moving

Hosting West End LIVE is no small task. There are quick changeovers, huge crowds, a packed schedule and the small matter of keeping the excitement going from first song to final bow.

On Saturday, the presenters will be Mathilde Barker, Shanay Holmes and Tobias Turley. On Sunday, Courtney Bowman and Tosh Wanogho-Maud will take over.

It is a strong group of theatre performers and personalities, and they should bring plenty of warmth and energy to the weekend.

5. It is free, but it is worth planning ahead

General admission to West End LIVE is free and no ticket is required, but this is a hugely popular event, so it is worth arriving prepared.

The accessible viewing area is ticketed and registration has now closed, but BSL interpretation and a calm area will be available. For the first time, there is also a competition offering 100 fast-track entry places per day, plus one winner will get a backstage experience, a ยฃ50 merchandise voucher and ยฃ200 in Theatre Tokens. Entries close at 11.59pm on Sunday 14 June through Official London Theatre.

And if you cannot make it to Trafalgar Square, performances and backstage content will be streamed through Official London Theatreโ€™s YouTube and social media channels.

West End LIVE is one of those events that shows London at its most joyful: big voices, big crowds, big shows and a lot of people quietly pretending they are not about to sing along.
