London Family | Friday 23 and Saturday 24 April 2027

It’s not just the grown-ups getting a Double London Marathon. The TCS Mini London Marathon is becoming a two-day event in 2027, with a record 22,000 children expected to take part. Here are five things to know.

1. It’s free for schools

The Mini London Marathon is the UK’s biggest free one-day children’s event. Schools can enter pupils to run, jog, walk or wheel either one mile or 2.6K in the heart of London.

2. Finish on The Mall

Both routes start on Horse Guards Parade and finish at the iconic Finish Line on The Mall, the same line 100,000 marathon runners will cross that weekend. It’s an unforgettable experience for young runners.

3. Friday: mass events and the Borough Challenge

On Friday 23 April, the one-mile and 2.6K mass events take place, followed by the London Borough Challenge, where teams from every London borough compete in under-14 to under-18 age groups.

4. Saturday: future stars

On Saturday 24 April, the UK’s best young athletes race in regional teams in the championships, which also include the British Athletics Road Championships. Past competitors include Keely Hodgkinson, Josh Kerr and David Weir.

5. Part of a historic weekend

The races kick off the one-off 2027 Double TCS London Marathon weekend, with the main marathon on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April. Read our guide to the Double London Marathon.
