A major new art exhibition inspired by nature, craftsmanship and the movement of the Thames has arrived in London this May as celebrated British sculptor Charlie Whinney unveils Ask a Tree at Park Hyatt London River Thames.
1. The exhibition is completely free to visit
Visitors can explore the exhibition daily from 11am until 11pm throughout May, with no reservation required, making it an easy cultural stop while exploring London.
2. It coincides with the Chelsea Flower Show
The exhibition takes place during Chelsea Flower Show week, with Whinney best known for creating the dramatic sculpture featured in Arit Anderson’s BBC Garden of Hope in 2021.
3. The sculptures are inspired by nature and the River Thames
Whinney’s flowing steam-bent wood sculptures explore movement, rhythm and the relationship between people and nature using sustainably sourced materials.
4. Visitors can also see the hotel’s spectacular permanent artwork
The hotel is home to Ebb and Flow, Whinney’s large-scale installation inspired by the ever-changing movement of the Thames, which has become a striking focal point inside the luxury hotel.
5. Some of the artworks will be available to purchase
Guests will have the opportunity to buy selected smaller sculptures during the exhibition, while larger commissioned pieces will be available later in 2026.
