If you like your summer festivals with a little more sparkle (and a lot more sequins), Henley Festival is back on the Thames riverside for five magical nights from Wednesday 8 to Sunday 12 July 2026. Think world-class live music on the iconic Floating Stage, comedy, art galleries, brilliant food, dancing late into the night… and then a proper firework finale to round things off.
Here are five reasons it deserves a spot in your summer diary.

1) The black-tie riverside vibe (it’s part of the fun)
Henley Festival isn’t “turn up in wellies and a poncho” territory — it’s black-tie glamour by the water, where the audience becomes part of the theatre. Expect a buzzing riverside site, roving entertainment, and that very particular Henley feeling of “this is a bit special, isn’t it?”

2) Floating Stage headliners: pure nostalgia + big singalongs
The Floating Stage line-up is basically a greatest-hits summer party:
- Boy George & Culture Club (opening night)
- Sugababes (original line-up)
- Lulu
- Björn Again (ABBA joy, turned up loud)
- Alex James’ Britpop Classical (90s anthems meets orchestra)
- Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra with very special guest Laura Mvula
- The Bootleg Beatles (closing celebrations)
You can browse the schedule on Henley Festival – What’s On and start plotting your perfect night.
3) Pure Heaven: the “don’t go home yet” late-night festival club
Even after the main stage, Henley keeps going. Pure Heaven is the festival club where you can properly dance it out — with highlights including Ezra Collective and Jo Whiley’s 90s Anthems for that full hands-in-the-air moment.
4) Comedy, jazz, world music — plus art you can actually wander through
This is where Henley really earns the “festival like no other” label. Alongside the headline shows you’ve got:
- Comedy (including Alan Davies, Russell Kane, Suzi Ruffell and Julian Clary)
- Jazz, swing & classical in the Paradiso
- World & folk in the Bedouin Tent
- Visual arts across galleries and a sculpture garden
It’s ideal if your group never agrees on one thing — because you can mix and match the night as you go.
5) Fireworks every night — plus food, and the brilliant RISE programme
Every evening finishes with a show-stopping fireworks spectacular, which feels like the perfect “final scene” to a black-tie night out.
Henley also has a genuinely meaningful charitable heart: the RISE programme supports emerging talent across music, visual arts and production, giving new artists and backstage creatives real opportunities to learn and perform.
