Crowning Glory in Bath: Experiences and Hotel Packages Celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III
Bath has a rich history of royal connections, including hosting the first ever coronation of a crowned King of England in 973AD at Bath Abbey. To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023, Visit Bath has curated a range of events and experiences, as well as hotel packages, for visitors to enjoy.
One of the events on offer is the Coronation Special Supper Club at Iford Manor Estate, featuring a 7-course tasting menu inspired by King Charles III’s favourite foods. Guests can enjoy delicious, homemade, sustainably sourced food accompanied by live music for £75 per person.
The Roman Baths is also getting in on the action with their Royal Roman Quest. Visitors can pick up a family trail and see if they can help the emperor find his crown. Younger children can have fun spotting crowns hidden around the site, while older children can look for alternative crowns from within the museum collection.
The Royal Crescent Hotel is hosting a Coronation Garden Party on 5 May, featuring jazz music, lawn games, and afternoon tea with patisseries delicately flavoured with notes from Highgrove Bouquet by Penhaligon’s Perfumers. Guests can also participate in a junior bakers’ competition judged by the hotel’s Pastry Chef.
Visitors can also take advantage of the hotel packages on offer, such as the Coronation Celebration at The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa. This two-night stay includes a unique afternoon tea, a 6-course tasting menu, a bottle of Penhaligon’s Highgrove Bouquet Eau de Parfum, and access to the spa and Bath House. Prices start from £558 per room or £1,158 per suite.
