Sting’s The Last Ship comes to London in 2026 for a strictly limited season at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Written and composed by Sting, the musical is inspired by his childhood in Wallsend and the shipbuilding community that shaped his early life.

2. Is Sting performing in The Last Ship in London?

Sting will perform as Jackie White, the shipyard foreman whose health is failing just as the community needs his leadership most. He is scheduled to appear throughout the London season.

Shaggy will make a special appearance as the Wallsend Ferryman on 22 and 23 September. Lejaun Sheppard takes over the role from 24 September until 3 October.

The cast also includes Declan Bennett as Gideon, Frances McNamee as Meg, Jackie Morrison as Peggy White and Joe Caffrey as Billy Thompson.

The score moves between folk music, intimate ballads and large choral numbers. Familiar Sting songs woven into the production include Island of Souls, All This Time and When We Dance.
