Film | Out 9 November 2026
Few films have taken the world by storm like KPop Demon Hunters. Now the Academy Award-winning animation is joining the prestigious Criterion Collection, released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on 9 November. Here are five things to know.
1. A Criterion first for a family favourite
The Criterion Collection is known for special editions of film classics, so this is a big moment for the story of chart-topping girl group HUNTR/X, whose members Rumi, Mira and Zoey secretly protect their fans from demons, including a rival boy band.
2. Director-approved picture and sound
The release features a new 4K digital master approved by directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. The 4K UHD edition is presented in Dolby Vision HDR, so the dazzling animation and songs will look and sound their best.
3. Behind-the-scenes extras
Extras include a new making-of documentary, a full feature-length animatic with an introduction from the directors, and two video essays by Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou of Every Frame a Painting.
4. Sing along with lyric videos
Lyric videos are included for those tenaciously catchy songs, along with collectible postcards featuring original illustrations by artists who worked on the film, a new cover by Ami Thompson and an essay by critic Karen Han.
5. A perfect Christmas present
Arriving in early November, it’s ideal for fans of all ages under the Christmas tree. It’s available from Amazon, HMV, Chalkys and Rarewaves, with every edition including the special features.
