5 Things You Need to Know About the Stars of Gwyneth Goes Skiing Getting Actually Married Live On Stage at the Edinburgh Fringe

1. They’re Really Getting Married – Legally. On Stage. At the Fringe.

Linus Karp and Joseph Martin, the real-life couple behind gloriously camp theatre hits like Gwyneth Goes Skiing and Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story, are tying the knot in a legally binding wedding ceremony. And yes – it’s all happening live on stage at the Pleasance Grand during the Edinburgh Fringe. This isn’t a show-within-a-show: it’s an actual wedding, with a paying audience.

Saturday 16 August at 11:15am
Tickets: awkwardprods get married (but for real)

2. It’s a Fringe First – and a Full Queer Spectacle

Karp and Martin believe this will be the first legal wedding with a ticketed audience in the Fringe’s 78-year history – and possibly the first LGBTQ+ wedding staged as part of the official programme. Expect musical numbers, special guests, readings, and unfiltered theatrical joy packed into one gloriously chaotic morning.

3. They’re Also Launching a Brand-New Show: The Fit Prince

Just hours after saying “I do,” the newlyweds will be back on stage in their brand-new romcom parody, The Fit Prince (Who Gets Switched On The Square In The Frosty Castle The Night Before [Insert Public Holiday Here]). It’s a loving spoof of the holiday movie genre, with Linus as a lonely prince and Joseph as the reluctant New York baker drafted in to make his wedding cake. This will be the first time the couple have played romantic leads opposite each other on stage.

Runs 30 July – 25 August
Tickets: The Fit Prince

4. Yes, Diana Is Back Too

Their hit show Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story returns for a short run (20–24 August), with Linus once again playing Diana and Joseph voicing Charles. The pair famously get married and divorced on stage – something they’ve now done over 150 times. This August, they’ll be marrying on stage for real as well.

5. The Fringe’s Most Theatrical Couple Said “I Do”

Linus and Joseph, partners in life and in theatre for over a decade, have co-founded Awkward Productions and made their name with bold, unapologetically queer shows. Now, they’re making history with what might just be the most theatrical wedding the Fringe has ever seen. Their official statement? Just two words: “I do.”
