5 Things To Do Today to Have the Best Day Possible at Longleat Safari Park

1. Start with the safari drive (and get there early)

The safari is the main event, so it’s worth doing first before it gets busy.

If you arrive early and head straight in, you’ll avoid the long queues and have a better chance of seeing the animals when they’re active. The lions are always a highlight, and the monkey area is memorable (even if you’re slightly nervous about your car). The open sections with giraffes and deer are great for a more relaxed drive.

You can go round again later, but the first drive is usually the best of the day.

2. Do the Jungle Cruise before the queues build

The boat ride is one of the most popular parts of Longleat, and it fills up quickly.

Try to head there mid-morning if you can. It’s a good chance to sit down for a bit and see animals from a different angle, including gorillas, hippos and sea lions. It’s also a nice change of pace after being in the car.

3. Take some time to explore the maze and grounds

There’s more to Longleat than just the safari, and it’s worth slowing things down for a while.

The hedge maze is bigger than you might expect and can easily take longer than planned. The viewing platform helps if you get stuck. The surrounding gardens are also worth a wander and give you a break from the busier areas.

4. Sort food early and take a proper break

It’s a long day, and this is where it can start to feel tiring if you’re not careful.

If you can, bring a picnic. There are plenty of places to sit, and it’s much easier than queuing for food at peak times. If you are buying food there, try to go a bit earlier than the main lunch rush.

Taking a proper break makes a big difference to the rest of the day.

5. Slow the pace in the afternoon and go again if you can

By the afternoon, things tend to feel a bit more relaxed.

It’s a good time to visit some of the smaller attractions, take the train, or just explore areas you may have missed earlier. If you still have time and energy, another safari drive is worth it as it’s often quieter and you might see different things.

Final plan for the day

Morning: Safari drive, then Jungle Cruise
Midday: Maze and lunch
Afternoon: Explore the grounds and smaller attractions
End of day: Optional second safari drive

With a bit of planning, it’s easy to have a really good day at Longleat without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
