The hotel welcomes guests in grandeur and luxury with a magnificent 1,400-kg chandelier in the Lobby Entrance, which was exclusively designed by the talented Czech designer, Tafana Dvorakova. With a diameter of 4 metres and height of over 3.9 metres, this spectacular monumental piece that used a combination of 50,000 pieces of crystal beads and light amber crystal drops took over nine months to make from initial designs to installation. Indulge Yourself in Formosa Spa Journey at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Taipei

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Taipei, a world-class spa centre for healing, offering a range of holistic treatments and therapies in serene surroundings, offers guests a series of innovative and restorative spa journeys inspired by Asiaโ€™s local culture and wellness rituals. โ€œFormosaโ€ is a Taiwanese-inspired therapy featuring a fusion of butterfly massage techniques.

โ€œFormosaโ€ is the original name of Taiwan. It means โ€œbeautiful islandโ€. The Formosa journey begins with a welcoming foot ritual. Your skin is then polished using the ancient recipe of crushed sea pearls blended with sea salt from Tainan of southern Taiwan. Next, your body is layered in white mud with aloe vera, which will hydrate and re-mineralise your skin. Once your skin has fully absorbed all the goodness from the mud mask, a fusion of butterfly massage techniques and warm oil is beautifully applied during a full body massage. The whole wonderful journey is completed with scalp and face scrapping, a famous Taiwanese therapy and a refreshing juice of plum blossom.

This treatmentโ€™s creativity is revealed by the unique massage skills that are based on the local products and concepts of Taiwanese culture, defining Taiwan as โ€œthe friendly countryโ€ and โ€œThe Kingdom of Butterfliesโ€.
