About 5 Things To Do Today

Making every day count since 2012.

Welcome to 5 Things To Do Today, a digital lifestyle magazine dedicated to the art of discovery. We believe that life is better when it is curated, not cluttered.

Based between the leafy suburbs of Surrey and the vibrant streets of London, we have spent over a decade cutting through the digital noise to bring our readers a hand-picked selection of the very best experiences, reviews, and insights.

Our Story

The site was founded by David Ridings, born out of a personal passion for finding the “extraordinary” in the “ordinary.” What began as a simple daily habit of seeking out five interesting things to do has grown into a collaborative platform that reaches thousands of readers looking for genuine, human-led recommendations.

Today, we are a community-driven platform. We take pride in championing local businesses, interviewing innovators in the arts, and providing a space for guest contributors to share their own “five things.”

Our Philosophy: The Power of Five

We live in an age of “infinite scrolls” and “top 50” lists that few people have the time to finish. We do things differently. By narrowing our focus to just five things, we ensure that every recommendation is meaningful, manageable, and genuinely worth your time.

Whether it is a boutique hotel in the Cotswolds, a new opening in the West End, or a simple life-hack to improve your morning routine, if it is on our list, it is there for a reason.

What We Cover

We specialise in a broad range of lifestyle topics, with a particular focus on:

Culture & Arts: From major London exhibitions to local theatre reviews.

Food & Drink: Honest reviews of everything from street food to fine dining.

Travel: Expert guides for exploring the UK and further afield.

Curated Highlights: Interviews with creators, business spotlights, and unique guest contributions.

Join the Conversation

We are always looking for new stories and fresh perspectives. If you have a business you would like us to feature, an event that shouldn’t be missed, or if you would like to join our growing list of contributors, we would love to hear from you.
