5 Reasons to See John Kearns’ Tilting at Windmills at the London Palladium

London Comedy | Saturday 13 March 2027

John Kearns, the breakout star of Taskmaster series 14, has extended his sell-out tour Tilting at Windmills, and it now includes his biggest show yet: the London Palladium. Here are five reasons to book.

1. Five-star reviews across the board

The Times gave it five stars and called it a one-of-a-kind comic masterpiece, while The Guardian, Chortle, The Skinny and Beyond The Joke have also been full of praise. Critics describe a show that’s sad, poetic and hugely funny all at once.

2. A comedian unlike anyone else

Kearns is still the only comedian to have won both the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show and Best Newcomer in the awards’ 45-year history. His wig-and-false-teeth persona and digressive, poetic style make him a true original.

3. Directed by the Baby Reindeer director

The show is directed by Olivier winner Jon Brittain, who directed Baby Reindeer. It’s a fragmented portrait of a 38-year-old man’s life, touching on everything from Antiques Roadshow to his young son’s story preferences.

4. A landmark night

After selling out Soho Theatre Walthamstow and Wilton’s Music Hall on this tour, the Palladium is a big step up and likely to be a special occasion for fans. You may also know him from Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Guessable.

5. Tickets on sale this Friday

The tour now runs to more than 80 dates across the UK and Ireland. Tickets for the new dates go on sale at 10am on Friday 9 October, with a fan presale on Thursday 8 October for mailing list subscribers.
