Film | Available now on digital
Missed it in cinemas? Lady, the critically acclaimed British mockumentary starring Sian Clifford, is now available to watch at home. Here are five reasons to give it a go.
1. A brilliantly odd premise
Lady Isabella is a lonely, narcissistic aristocrat who dupes a struggling, opportunistic director into filming her every move. But her obsession with the spotlight takes a surreal turn when she starts to become invisible. Blending mockumentary and magical realism, it satirises our desperate need to feel seen.
2. Sian Clifford at her best
Best known as Claire in Fleabag, Sian Clifford has been widely praised for her performance. Time Out described her as raucously chaotic, and Screen Daily called it a memorable central performance.
3. A 100% Rotten Tomatoes score
The film landed a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes during its cinema run. The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw gave it four stars and called it “like Saltburn on shrooms”, praising its laughs and unexpected tenderness.
4. A great supporting cast
Clifford is joined by Juliet Cowan (Back to Black), Laurie Kynaston (Derry Girls, The Sandman) and Olisa Odele (Big Boys, It’s a Sin).
5. One of the year’s best British debuts
It’s the feature debut of director Samuel Abrahams, who co-wrote it with Miranda Campbell Bowling. The Upcoming named it one of the best British debut features of the year. It runs for 97 minutes and is rated 15.
Lady is available now on digital, including Apple TV, from MetFilm Distribution.
