5 Things to Know About Voila! Theatre Festival 2026: 101 Shows in 60 Languages Across London

London Theatre | 2 – 22 November 2026

London is one of the most multilingual cities in the world, and for three weeks this November its fringe stages will reflect that. Voila! Theatre Festival returns with 101 shows and events, 450 artists and an incredible 60 languages across eight London venues. The Stage calls it an essential festival. Here are five things to know.

1. Theatre in 60 languages, but open to everyone

Voila! describes itself as “panlingual”, celebrating the way languages and cultures flow and mix rather than keeping them separate. Don’t worry if you only speak English: over half the programme is performed in English and at least one other language, and shows not in English have subtitles or surtitles. It’s a brilliant chance to discover stories from the homelands of your neighbours, from right here in London.

2. Eight fringe venues across the city

Shows take place at The Cockpit in Marylebone, the festival’s home and producer, plus Barons Court Theatre, Canal Cafe Theatre, Etcetera Theatre, The Playground Theatre, Theatro Technis, The Space and Upstairs at the Gatehouse. Since expanding into a multi-venue festival with Arts Council England support in 2024, it achieved record-breaking ticket sales in 2025.

3. Shows you won’t see anywhere else

Highlights include The Radical Wedding Engine at The Cockpit, part wedding and part performance with real treats; The Gummy Bears’ Great War at Etcetera, a four-star Edinburgh hit performed on a table with real sweets; Lament of the Wandering Head at Barons Court, from Taiwan’s Sun Son Theatre; and Heaven to Earth Plus at The Space, a Ukrainian soldier’s story told through music, poetry and folk song.

4. Dance, musicals and new writing

There’s something for every taste. Akeim Toussaint Buck’s Windows of Displacement at Theatro Technis blends dance, song and spoken word, while Basilitrix at Upstairs at the Gatehouse is a Polish folk rock musical about sisterhood. Natasha Markou returns after last year’s sell-out with Brewtopia, and Much Crazy About Nothing at The Playground imagines a world of professional break-up agents.

5. A platform for fearless new artists

Voila! is programmed from an open call and champions migrant and multilingual artists who may face accent discrimination or language barriers elsewhere. As co-director Fae Fichtner puts it, you might sit down to watch a show and find yourself transported to the homeland of the person living next door. Fringe tickets are usually great value, so it’s easy to try something new.
