Music | Album out 30 October 2026 | London 7 November
New York band DIIV have shared their new single “Trillions”, the latest taste of their fifth album ZIRP!, out on 30 October via Fantasy Recordings. Here are five things to know.
1. Their most pop song yet
“Trillions” was co-written with A. G. Cook and is clearly the most pop song DIIV have ever made. Its video, directed by Jaxon Whittington, is full of big houses, wads of cash, fast cars and business suits, leaving you to wonder whether it’s earnest or satire.
2. Produced by A. G. Cook
British producer A. G. Cook, known for his work with Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek, produced the album. Rather than remixing the band’s demos, he became obsessed with their live sound, recording live drums and intricate guitar parts with as little computer work as possible.
3. Shoegaze meets pop
DIIV have always blended shoegaze and grunge with catchy melodies, and on ZIRP! they lean fully into what they call “The New Alternative”. Named after zero interest rate policies, the album turns big themes about tech, streaming and modern life into sparkling pop songs. Watch the lead single, “The Fountain”:
4. Critics are already impressed
Early singles have won praise from The Guardian, Stereogum and SPIN, which said the new music balances DIIV’s familiar haze with an anthemic immediacy. The 11-track album also includes “Kid”, “Dare Me” and “Underground”.
5. See them in London
After a North American tour supporting Interpol, DIIV head to Europe, playing Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris on 2 November and Pitchfork Music Festival London on Saturday 7 November.
