5 Reasons to Visit the London Eye This October Half Term, Including Fright on the Thames

London Family | October Half Term 2026

Looking for a half-term day out that everyone will enjoy? The London Eye is a classic for a reason, and this Halloween it’s adding a spooky twist on the river with Fright on the Thames. Here are five reasons to book.

1. London from a new angle

A rotation on the London Eye gives you sweeping views across the capital, from the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben right beside you to St Paul’s Cathedral and the City skyline. On a clear autumn day you can see for miles, and the gentle 30-minute rotation is relaxed enough for children and grandparents alike. Booking ahead online usually gives the best price and helps you avoid the longest queues during the busy half-term week.

2. A ghost cruise on the Thames

For a spooky evening, Fright on the Thames is a Halloween river cruise that departs from the London Eye after dark. Live actors bring London’s most chilling stories to life as you glide along the river, with tales from the city’s haunted past. It’s designed to be fun rather than terrifying, and has previously been recommended for ages 5 and up.

3. A welcome drink on board

In previous years, Fright on the Thames tickets have included a welcome drink, with prosecco for grown-ups or hot chocolate to warm up the kids. The boat also has a fully stocked bar and accessible facilities. Note that it’s a separate ticket from the London Eye itself, and places are limited each evening.

4. Save with a combo ticket

To make a full day of it, you can pair the London Eye with other top attractions using a multi-attraction ticket, such as SEA LIFE London Aquarium, Madame Tussauds or a daytime river cruise. It’s a good way to save money if you’re planning a few outings over half term.

5. Right in the heart of the South Bank

The London Eye sits on the South Bank, so it’s easy to combine with a riverside walk, street food, the Southbank Centre or a trip across Westminster Bridge. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from Waterloo and Westminster stations.
