London Talks | Thursday 21 January 2027
One of the most influential figures in modern hospitality is coming to London. Danny Meyer, founder of Union Square Hospitality Group and Shake Shack, joins the 5×15 stage at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster. Here are five reasons to book.
1. The man behind Shake Shack
Meyer built some of New York’s most celebrated restaurants before creating Shake Shack, which grew from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park into a global brand. Hearing how he did it is a rare treat for food lovers and business fans alike.
2. His first book in 20 years
Meyer is touring What Could Possibly Go Right?, his first book in two decades. It explores how leaders build energised teams, grow without losing what makes a business special, and create organisations that last. Organisational psychologist Adam Grant says he’s waited 20 years for it.
3. The power of hospitality
His bestseller Setting the Table introduced his philosophy of “Enlightened Hospitality”, the idea that putting people first is the foundation of an enduring business. Expect plenty of insight you can use whether you run a restaurant or simply manage a team.
4. Lessons from failure too
The evening isn’t just about success. Meyer will talk about what happens when things don’t go to plan, drawing on decades of successes, failures and unexpected turns.
5. More great 5×15 events coming up
5×15 also has Mary Trump on the making of Donald Trump at Conway Hall on 19 October, and author Scott Galloway on masculinity and meaning at the Emmanuel Centre on 18 January, so it’s worth checking out the full programme.
