Looking for a birthday party that will tire out a room full of energetic kids? Spelthorne Gymnastics in Sunbury-on-Thames is home to British, European and World Champions in acrobatics and tumbling, and its children’s gym parties are hugely popular with local families. Here’s what you need to know.
1. The whole gym is yours for an hour
Your guests get an hour’s exclusive use of the gym, including the foam pit and a wide range of play apparatus. Club staff supervise, although parents are also expected to keep an eye on things. After that, there are 45 minutes in the party room for food and party games.
2. It’s designed for children aged 9 and under
Parties are for children up to the age of 9, which makes them a great fit for primary school birthdays, whether your child is a budding gymnast or just loves to bounce.
3. You can invite the whole class, and then some
Up to 45 children can attend, including the birthday child, for £300, or £280 if the birthday child is a current fee-paying club member. No awkward decisions about who makes the guest list.
4. You bring the food and the fun extras
Parties are self-catering, so you supply the food, cake and decorations for the party room and clear them away afterwards. Food and drink aren’t allowed in the gym itself, to protect the equipment. Grown-ups can grab a coffee and homemade cake in the club café.
5. You’ll need to book early
Parties run on Sundays, with five slots between 11.30am and 6pm, and occasionally on Thursday afternoons in the school holidays.
