Michael Rosen Extends Heartfelt One-Man Show ‘Getting Through It’ into 2026

Beloved writer and broadcaster Michael Rosen is taking his acclaimed show Getting Through It on an extended national tour. Mixing poetry, memoir, and reflection, it’s a moving, funny and deeply human journey through grief, survival and hope.

  1. A double bill that delves deep into life and loss Getting Through It is split into two intimate parts. In The Death of Eddie, Rosen recounts the devastating loss of his teenage son to meningitis, while Many Kinds of Love revisits his near-fatal battle with COVID-19 — both told with raw honesty and flashes of humour.
  2. A mosaic of memory and resilience Rosen describes his writing as a collection of fragments that, when pieced together, form a mosaic of what it means to live through trauma. His storytelling reveals how even in moments of despair, there can be absurdity, laughter and light.
  3. From page to stage The stories behind the show were first explored in his bestselling books The Sad Book, Many Different Kinds of Love, and Getting Better. Each offers insight into love, loss and the unbreakable human spirit — themes that resonate powerfully on stage.
  4. A tour of iconic UK venues With new dates extending into spring 2026, Getting Through It will visit some of Britain’s best-loved theatres, including The Old Vic in London, the Oxford Playhouse, Edinburgh Lyceum, Theatr Clwyd and Liverpool Playhouse.
  5. A rare blend of humour, heartbreak and hope Few artists can balance pain and laughter as gracefully as Michael Rosen. His live performance invites audiences to reflect, remember and find solace in the shared experience of simply getting through it.
