Golden Goose Theatre, Camberwell | 4 – 15 November 2025
Press release by Kevin Wilson Public Relations – celebrating 30 years at the heart of the West End.
1) A Timeless Story Returns to the Stage
Edward J. Moore’s The Sea Horse, winner of the Drama Desk Award, opens at London’s Golden Goose Theatre this November, fifty years after its original Broadway debut. The play, directed by Mandi Riggi, runs from 4–15 November 2025, with performances Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30pm.
2) A Love Story Set Against the Sea
Set in a dark waterfront bar, The Sea Horse follows the complex relationship between Gertrude, a tough, guarded bar owner, and Harry, a seaman returning from months at sea with a dream of a new life together. What begins as a purely physical connection deepens into a tender and raw exploration of trust, vulnerability, and the human need for connection. The play captures both the brutality and beauty of love, as two outsiders navigate the stormy waters of their past in search of safe harbour.
3) From Broadway to Camberwell
Originally performed in New York in 1974, The Sea Horse received critical acclaim for its emotional depth and honesty. Director Mandi Riggi says, “Five decades since its debut at New York’s Circle Rep, this raw, beautiful story is more relevant than ever. In our high-tech world, where people often feel disconnected, its themes of vulnerability and human connection should still resonate deeply with audiences today.”
