Emerge East returns to Barking Riverside on Saturday 6th September 2025 with its biggest line-up yet. This free community festival blends music, food, art, wellbeing and family activities on the banks of the Thames. Here are five reasons to head east this September

1) See Capital XTRA’s Shayna Marie and Robert Bruce
Breakfast show stars Shayna Marie and Robert Bruce headline this year’s festival. Robert hosts the brand-new Barking Riverside Block Party stage, and Shayna closes the day with an unmissable, high-energy DJ set.
2) Dance at the Big Fish Little Fish family rave
A festival favourite, Big Fish Little Fish returns with a one-hour family-friendly rave taster. Expect club classics, bubbles and foam cannons—perfect for kids and nostalgic parents alike.
3) Explore the European debut of Meliora by Atelier Sisu
Step inside a glowing, large-scale light installation as Atelier Sisu bring their acclaimed work to Europe for the first time. The immersive, iridescent forms make for an unforgettable photo moment.
4) Try street food by Home Cooks & browse the makers’ market
Locals become chefs for the day at the Home Cooks street food market, serving up family recipes with global flavours. Add the Emerging Makers’ Market—showcasing local designers and craftspeople—and there’s plenty to taste and take home.
5) Relax and recharge at the Riverside Sauna
For something totally different, book the outdoor Riverside Sauna for deep heat, cold dips and river views. (Note: this is the only paid element.)
