Starlight Express Review – A Thrilling Ride Through Nostalgia and Innovation

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express continues to dazzle London audiences at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, blending high-octane spectacle with classic musical charm. This revival has earned widespread acclaim, winning seven awards at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Revival, Best Choreography, Best Set Design, and Best Sound Design, among others, solidifying its place as a standout production.

Tim Hatley’s set design, featuring neon-lit tracks that weave through the auditorium, is a visual spectacle. Combined with Ashley Nottingham’s adrenaline-fueled choreography, the roller-skating ensemble delivers performances that are as athletic as they are artistic.

Jeevan Braich’s portrayal of Rusty is both heartfelt and dynamic, earning him well-deserved praise. Kayna Montecillo as Pearl brings vocal elegance to the production, while the entire cast impresses with their seamless blend of skating, singing, and storytelling.

While its simple plot continues to divide opinion, the production’s technical brilliance, nostalgic score, and energetic execution have won the hearts of many. Recent reviews highlight its perfect fusion of past and present, making it a must-see event.

Starlight Express is now booking at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre with extended dates due to high demand. Visit the theatre’s official site for the latest schedule and ticket availability.
