Bestselling children’s author David Walliams and the award-winning Birmingham Stage Company have teamed up once again to bring their latest family adventure, Awful Auntie, to the stage. This new production follows their previous successful collaborations, including the Oliver Award-nominated Gangsta Granny and Billionaire Boy. The show will be performed at Woking’s New Victoria Theatre from Thursday, 4th July to Saturday, 6th July.
2. An Intriguing Plot Full of Twists and Turns
Awful Auntie tells the story of Stella, a young girl who sets off to visit London with her parents, only to find her life in danger. After waking up three months later, Stella learns from her Aunt Alberta about the events that transpired. However, Stella soon realises that not everything Alberta says is true, leading to a thrilling battle against her devious aunt. This captivating plot promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
3. David Walliams: From Comedian to Children’s Author
David Walliams is one of Britain’s most beloved comedians, known for his work on Little Britain and Come Fly With Me. As a judge on Britain’s Got Talent for ten years, he won numerous National TV Awards for Best TV Judge. Since 2008, Walliams has also made a name for himself as a bestselling children’s author, with his books translated into 55 languages and selling over 53 million copies worldwide. Walliams’ engaging storytelling and humour make his live shows a delight for both children and adults.
4. Talented Cast and Crew Behind the Scenes
Awful Auntie is adapted and directed by Neal Foster, who also stars in the title role. Foster is the Actor/Manager of The Birmingham Stage Company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. The production team includes Richard J Hinds as Assistant Director/Movement Director, Jackie Trousdale as Designer, Jason Taylor handling lighting, Nick Sagar on sound, and music by Jak Poore. With such a talented crew, the show is set to be a visual and auditory delight.
