Over the past 14 years, Peppa Pig Live has taken to the stage in six popular tours and has been enjoyed by more than 2 million people in the UK alone. As 2024 sees the brand-new live show Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out! Tour the UK and Ireland, we caught up with Richard Lewis, who has written and adapted all seven Peppa Pig Live shows to find out more:

Q: Can you give us a brief overview of “Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out!”?
A: Absolutely! It’s our seventh Peppa Pig Live show and a real step up creatively. We visit the zoo and the beach, with lots of adventures like meeting penguins and having a beach party. It’s a jam-packed hour of fun.
Q: How have Peppa Pig Live shows evolved over the years?
A: We’ve blended traditional puppetry with various theatrical styles. “Fun Day Out” introduces new puppets and exciting sequences like underwater and UV scenes. The shows have become more visually stimulating and interactive.
Q: What makes adapting Peppa stories for the stage special for you?
A: I love how Peppa connects with pre-schoolers at a crucial developmental stage. The simplicity and charm of Peppa’s world are perfect for young minds, and it’s a privilege to contribute to their growth through theatre.
Q: Do you have a favourite character in the show?
A: It’s hard to choose! Each character plays a vital role in the family theme of the show. But I have a soft spot for the comical, rotund characters.
Q: What do you hope audiences take away from the show?
A: I hope families enjoy the story and the communal experience of theatre. My biggest wish is that it sparks a lifelong love for theatre in our young audience members, enriching their lives.
Q: Where can people find out more about the show?
A: For all the details, visit www.peppapiglive.com. You can also follow us on social media: Facebook and Instagram @PeppaPigLive UK, and TikTok @PeppaPigUkTour.
