Faye Brookes Joins Cast of Strictly Ballroom The Musical 2023 UK Tour Directed by Craig Revel Horwood
The cast of Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom The Musical just got a little bit brighter with the exciting casting announcement of Faye Brookes. The Coronation Street star and Dancing on Ice finalist will be joining Kevin Clifton, who stars as Scott Hastings, in the all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza as it makes its way across the UK and Ireland on its 10-month tour.
Directed by Craig Revel Horwood and co-choreographed with Strictly’s creative director Jason Gilkison, the musical tour kicked off in Portsmouth on 26 September and will culminate in Bristol on 15 July. This highly anticipated musical is based on the award-winning global film of the same name, which inspired the world to dance and led to the creation of the hit TV series Strictly Come Dancing.
Faye Brookes, who takes over the role of Fran from Maisie Smith on 27 March, is no stranger to the stage. She has previously starred as Roxie Hart in Chicago, Princess Fiona in Shrek, and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. As a household name from her time on Coronation Street, Faye is sure to bring her talent and energy to the role of Fran.
Strictly Ballroom The Musical tells the captivating story of Scott Hastings, a talented, rebellious ballroom dancer played by Kevin Clifton, and Fran, played by Faye Brookes. When Scott’s unconventional dance moves see him fall out of favour with the Australian Federation, he teams up with Fran, a beginner with no moves, to defy convention and their families and discover that, to be winners, the steps don’t need to be strictly ballroom.
