Looking for a peaceful family day out in London surrounded by wildlife, otters, birds and nature trails? The London Wetland Centre in Barnes is one of the capital’s hidden gems — and here are five useful things to know about ticket prices before you visit.
1. Adult tickets start from around £17 online
If you book in advance online, adult tickets currently start from around £17 without Gift Aid or slightly more with Gift Aid. Buying online can save you money compared with paying at the entrance on the day.

2. Family tickets offer much better value
For families, the centre offers family tickets for two adults and two children from around £48 online. On-the-day prices are usually higher.
If you are planning a full day with children, the family ticket is normally the best option.
3. Children under 3 go free
One of the best bits for parents of younger children is that children under three years old get free entry. Carers assisting disabled visitors can also enter free of charge.
There are also occasional reduced-price schemes and discounted community ticket offers available during certain times of the year.
4. Membership can save regular visitors money
If you think you may visit more than once a year, a WWT membership can quickly pay for itself. Members receive unlimited entry to WWT centres across the UK, including the London Wetland Centre.
This can be especially useful during school holidays when extra family activities and seasonal events are running.
5. Your ticket includes more than just birdwatching
The London Wetland Centre is much more than a simple nature reserve. Entry includes access to walking trails, wildlife hides, otter feeding sessions, adventure play areas, interactive exhibits and seasonal events.
Many visitors spend three to five hours there, especially families with younger children.
