5 things to do at the Runnymede on Thames Hotel and Spa (Close to Windsor and Heathrow Airport)

Located in an idyllic setting on the banks of the River Thames, The Runnymede on Thames has prepared for the longly anticipated warmer days with the relaunch of its riverboat cruises, array of exciting outdoor pursuits, both on and off the river, and outdoor dining offerings, to welcome guests back for a memorable Summer staycation this year. Surrounded by the beautiful British countryside and located just 10 minutes from Windsor, The Runnymede on Thames offers an unrivalled location for guests of all ages and interests to enjoy a range of exciting activities and experiences both on and off the river, and venture further afield to explore one of the many nearby local attractions.

One

Park the car, check in at reception and self drive a river boat whilst your room is being prepared. We used an electric boat which was super easy to use. Incredibly helpful staff helped launch the boat, helped with the controls and guided us back to the river bank on our return. We went as far as the first lock towards Sheperaton and back which took about an hour. This is a beautiful quiet stretch of the River Thames. A bottle of Champagne wouldn’t go a miss next time and a freshly prepared picnic. The hotel will do this for you.

Two

Have lunch at the Left Bank Restaurant. This impressive space has indoor and outdoor options. Outddor tables have a perfect view of The River Thames. The lunch was buffet style and extensive. The meatballs were excellent and the cheese platter with biscuits was welcome. A good selection of drinks are available including some novel cocktails.

Three

If the weather is nice then have a swim in the outside pool. When we swam the temperature of the water was 28 degrees Celsius which was ideal. There are plenty of sun loungers to relax and read. Outside changing rooms are provided with towels and drinks are available from a small poolside kiosk. After your swim there is a beautuful garden room which ‘help your self’ complimentary hot drinks and juices.

Four

After a successful summer last year, The Runnymede On Thames’ outdoor dining outlet, the River Hideout, will reopen for this season. Set on a spacious, outdoor pergola means groups can enjoy a relaxed lunch or early dinner under the sun. You can tuck into a mouth-watering range of weekly specials, from the classic Runnymede Dirty Burger, served straight from the Robata Grill to a tempting homemade pizza made fresh from the pizza oven.

Five

Visit a local attraction. If you are looking to venture further afield can visit local attractions, just moments away. Those seeking their nature fix can revel in the abundance of fauna and flora at Windsor Great Park, Savill Garden and Dorney Lake, whilst history fanatics can visit The RAF Memorial, explore the historical site of Magna Carta and wander at Hampton Court Palace and for thrill seekers, Thorpe Park and Legoland are close by too.
