Last Wednesday we went to the Be Inspired art Auction at the Saatchi Gallery. This live auction was to raise money for the Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts. Children & the Arts engages with disadvantaged children nationwide who do not have access to high-quality arts activity because of either social or economic barriers. Art works by high profile artists including Tracey Emin, Andy Warhol and the Royal sculptress Frances Segelman were auction on the night. There was even a painting of Balmoral by HRH The Prince of Wales as one of the lots.

The evening raised £230, 000 for the Prince’s Foundation For Children and the Arts. VIP guests at the evening included Jessica Bonas and artists Frances Segelman, XXXora and Laura Losifescus

Be a Tour Guide: The charity offers free training to young people (14-16+) to be come tour guides for the centenary celebrations at the Geffrye Museum of the Home in London. The is six part course is a brilliant opportunity to develop young peoples public speaking and presentation skills.


Visit the Saatchi Gallery: This was my first time to the Saatchi Gallery. The sense of space and light was striking and next time you are in London it is well worth a visit. You can organise a private tour for two of the gallery including a champagne lunch. The food at the Saatchi Gallery has excellent reviews and this tour could be a lovely way to see the gallery.


Attend a Catalyst Teacher Training Day: Catalyst is a programme of inspiring arts based teacher training days throughout the UK for Key Stage 2. Each day focuses on two art forms, and teachers will work work with professional artists in hands on workshops to develop practical skills and activities. Catalyst days are designed to build teachers’ your confidence in using the arts across the curriculum and demonstrate practical activities to use in the classroom. The cost is eighty five pounds per person.


Explore around Sloane Square: The Saatchi Gallery is situated about four minutes walk from Sloane Square station. This area is a hive activity with good restaurants, cocktail bars and department stores. It is only a short walk from Harrods and the main stores of Knightsbridge.
