5 Reasons to See Fly, You Fools!, the Lord of the Rings Parody at Southwark Playhouse

London Theatre | 25 November 2026 – 16 January 2027

One does not simply walk into Mordor, but you can walk into Southwark Playhouse Borough. Fly, You Fools! is a live parody of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, making its London debut this winter. Here are five reasons to go.

1. The whole Fellowship in 60 minutes

Just four performers take on the entire epic adventure in an hour of Middle-earth mayhem, using physical comedy, character impersonations, mime and theatrical ingenuity. It’s perfect for both superfans and newcomers.

2. From the Hold On To Your Butts team

It’s created by Recent Cutbacks, the company behind the hit Jurassic Park parody Hold On To Your Butts, which won over UK audiences in 2024 and 2025. The show has also had sell-out Edinburgh seasons.

3. Live sound effects

Charlie Ives returns as the Foley performer, creating all the sound effects live on stage, and also plays Galadriel. Watching the sounds being made in real time is half the fun.

4. A comic cast

The cast includes Jack Baldwin and Laurence Pears, both veterans of The Play That Goes Wrong and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, and Charlie Burt from Doctor Who: Time Fracture. Pears was also 2024 Cornwall Comedian of the Year.

5. Great for families

Arriving in the 25th anniversary year of the film, it’s a fun festive outing for ages 8 and up. There’s a family offer of four tickets for £110 at selected performances, with at least one under-16 per booking.
