Birmingham Family Days Out | Bournville, Birmingham
No family trip to Birmingham is complete without a visit to Cadbury World. Set in the historic model village of Bournville, a few miles south of the city centre, this much-loved attraction tells the story of Cadbury chocolate, from the cocoa bean to your favourite bar. Here are five reasons to go.
1. Ride the Beanmobiles
Hop aboard a Beanmobile for a gentle ride through a chocolate wonderland full of familiar Cadbury characters as you discover the magic of how chocolate is made. It’s a firm favourite with younger children and a fun way to break up the walk-through zones.
2. A 4D Chocolate Adventure
Strap in for the 4D Chocolate Adventure, where you’ll experience the sensation of riding the Crunchie Rollercoaster and diving into a pot of liquid Cadbury Dairy Milk. It’s silly, immersive and always gets a laugh from kids and grown-ups alike.
3. Watch real chocolatiers at work
See how Cadbury chocolate was traditionally made as a chocolatier guides you through tempering, moulding and shelling. You can watch the experts up close and, best of all, there’s usually a warm chocolate treat to taste along the way.
4. Fascinating history for grown-ups
The journey begins in an Aztec jungle, exploring the origins of cocoa, before moving on to the Bournville Experience, which uncovers the history of the Cadbury family and the model village they built for their workers. There are over 1,000 pieces of nostalgic memorabilia, and the Advertising Avenue takes you through some of Cadbury’s most memorable ad campaigns.
5. Play, eat and shop
Once you’ve finished the tour, the African Adventure play area lets kids burn off their sugar rush, and there’s a café for lunch. Then head to the World’s Biggest Cadbury Shop for treats to take home. Allow two to four hours for your visit.
