Halloween 2026 | Bristol and around
Heading west for half term? Bristol is gearing up for a frightfully good Halloween, with scare attractions, haunted caves, ghost tours and family-friendly pumpkin fun in and around the city. Here are five of the best, from Visit Bristol’s round-up.
1. FEAR at Avon Valley Scream Park (until 31 October)
For thrill-seekers, the award-winning FEAR has five scare attractions, including a brand-new one for 2026 called The Autopsy. There are fire shows, scare mazes, street theatre and thrill rides, with opening and closing “Scaremonies” to set the mood. This one’s definitely for teens and adults who like to be properly scared.
2. The Home of Halloween at Wookey Hole (until 1 November)
For families, Wookey Hole becomes the Home of Halloween on selected dates. Expect magical projections in the caves, a spooky pumpkin trail, encounters with the legendary Witch of Wookey Hole and the Monster’s Ball circus show, plus fancy dress competitions. Nearby, Cheddar Gorge & Caves has a spooky clue trail through Gough’s Cave from 24 October to 1 November, and dogs are welcome too.
3. A silent disco at the aquarium (31 October)
On Halloween night, Bristol’s Silent Disco takes over both Bristol Aquarium and We The Curious. Explore underwater worlds and interactive science exhibits, then hit the dance floor to 80s, 90s and 00s hits and indie anthems. Two unique venues, one ticket, and a brilliant grown-up night out.
4. Horror films in underground caves
For something truly atmospheric, Horror in the Caves screens cult classics in the eerie Redcliffe Caves as part of Bristol Film Festival. Or pair spooky films with wine at Averys Wine Cellars. Ghost-hunters can join Bristol Ghost Tours, or take a Morbid Curiosity tour of Arnos Vale Cemetery, where sightings of two female spirits have been reported.
5. Lanterns, wheelie-bin monsters and pumpkins
For gentler fun, WWT Slimbridge’s Mystical Marsh Lantern Experience (23 October to 1 November) lights up the wetlands after dark, with lantern making and marshmallow toasting. Wake the Tiger’s Dream Factory has its wonderfully weird Hallo-Wheelie Bin Season, featuring mischievous BINshees who turn rubbish into monsters. And for pumpkin picking, head to Avon Valley Adventure Park or Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm.
