5 Reasons to Celebrate 100 Years of Winnie-the-Pooh With a Digital Detox in the Real Hundred Acre Wood

UK Escapes | Winnie-the-Pooh at 100

Winnie-the-Pooh celebrates his 100th anniversary this October, and you can mark it with a stay in the real Hundred Acre Wood. Unplugged, the UK’s original digital detox escape, has cabins in Ashdown Forest, the very landscape that inspired A.A. Milne. Here are five reasons to go.

1. Stay where Pooh was born

Ashdown Forest in East Sussex inspired A.A. Milne’s much-loved stories. A woodland stay here is a lovely, nostalgic way to celebrate the centenary, and it’s only around an hour from London.

2. Phones locked away for 72 hours

At Unplugged, guests lock their phones away for three days. It’s a chance to slow down, switch off and enjoy a proper break from screens and notifications.

3. Two woodland cabins

Choose from Willow or Helix. Helix is a wellbeing-focused cabin created in partnership with Healf, ideal if you want to combine your break with some self-care.

4. Do as Pooh would do

Rediscover the simple pleasures of Pooh’s world: woodland walks, spotting wildlife, and, as Pooh would say, doing nothing, which often leads to the very best something.

5. A perfect autumn escape

With the forest in its autumn colours, it’s a beautiful time to visit. While you’re there, you could also find Poohsticks Bridge, where the famous game was invented.
