5 Things to Know About Leadenhall Market’s Christmas Lights Switch-On 2026

Christmas 2026 | Thursday 19 November, from 5.15pm

One of the City’s most magical festive moments is coming. Leadenhall Market will switch on its Christmas lights on Thursday 19 November, marking the start of the festive season in the Square Mile. Here are five things to know.

1. Lights on at 6pm

Celebrations begin from 5.15pm, with the big switch-on at 6pm. It’s free, and perfect for an after-work festive outing or a trip into town with the family.

2. A 26ft Christmas tree

A towering 26ft Christmas tree will take centre stage beneath the Market’s atrium, while its Victorian walkways are dressed in festive garlands and decorations.

3. A Victorian light tunnel

A festive light tunnel will stretch through Beehive Passage, lit with Victorian-style lights, which makes it one of the prettiest photo spots in the City this Christmas.

4. Live music and snow

As the lights go on, there will be live festive music and a flurry of snow, creating a proper Christmas card moment beneath the Grade II listed iron and glass roof designed by Horace Jones.

5. Festive food and drink

The Market’s restaurants, pubs and bars, including The Lamb Tavern, Boom Bap Burger, MRBL and The Golden Goose, will stay open all evening for festive drinks, snacks and dinner. More details of the Market’s Christmas programme will be announced soon.
