Film | Buy or rent on digital from 6 October 2026
Just in time for Halloween, the latest chapter of one of modern horror’s most influential franchises is out to watch at home. Insidious: Out of the Further is available to buy or rent on digital from today. Here are five things to know.
1. Now the door opens both ways
The Insidious films are built around The Further, a purgatorial realm of lost souls. This time, the franchise turns its most terrifying rule inside out: Gemma discovers she can not only enter The Further, but bring what lives there back into our world. Once the demons realise what she can do, the barrier becomes a door.
2. A mother protecting her daughter
Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor) plays Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in. She believes slipping into The Further will help her protect her family, but it puts them in even greater danger.
3. Lin Shaye returns as Elise
Franchise favourite Lin Shaye is back as Elise Rainier, who knows better than anyone what happens when the door to The Further is left open. Brandon Perea (Nope, Twisters) also stars.
4. From horror’s top producers
It’s directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play) and produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli and James Wan, the team behind many of the biggest horror hits of recent years.
5. Perfect for a Halloween night in
It runs for about 1 hour 40 minutes and is rated 15. Turn the lights down and settle in for a scary night on the sofa.
Insidious: Out of the Further is available to buy or rent on digital from 6 October 2026, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
