London Theatre | January – November 2027
Park Theatre in Finsbury Park has announced its 2027 Park200 season, with new writing at its heart, a landmark revival and its first big move into opera. Here are five shows to look out for.
1. Mojo (4 March – 10 April)
Jez Butterworth’s Olivier Award-winning debut returns to the London stage for the first time in 14 years. Set in 1950s Soho, it follows the fallout when the owner of the Atlantic Club, home of rock ‘n’ roll sensation Silver Johnny, is murdered. Slick, visceral and darkly funny, it launched the writer of Jerusalem and The Ferryman. It’s directed by Max Harrison, with casting to be announced.
2. The Wedding(s) (27 May – 3 July)
Comedy duo Max & Ivan (W1A) make their theatrical debut with this world premiere farce. Two hapless brothers accidentally book two weddings at the same venue, at the same time, on their opening day. Expect too many guests, not enough booze and plenty of chaos.
3. Gianni Schicchi (14 April – 8 May)
OperaUpClose takes up a major residency with its 65-minute reimagining of Puccini’s comic opera, turned into a murder mystery in the style of The White Lotus and Knives Out. It’s a great way to try opera if you’ve never been.
4. The Captain and Jimmy (January)
Adam Riches opens the season with The Captain (12 – 23 January), his Fringe First-winning play about Matthew Webb, the first person to swim the English Channel. His sell-out tennis show Jimmy, about Jimmy Connors’ famous comeback, also returns for just six performances.
5. Spitfire Girls and more new writing
Spitfire Girls (27 January – 27 February) celebrates the women of the Air Transport Auxiliary in the Second World War. Later in the year, The Quiet Revolution of Laurent Clerc (9 July – 7 August) tells the story of the “Father of the Deaf” using sign language, captions and spoken word. And for the adventurous, you can book the 2026 Papatango New Writing Prize winner (28 October – 27 November) before the play is even revealed on 20 October.
