5 Reasons to See Darryl J Carrington’s Family Comedy Show Out of the Box This Half Term

Family Comedy | UK tour, October – November 2026

Looking for a half-term show the whole family will love? Award-winning silent clown Darryl J Carrington is touring Out of the Box, including two London dates. Here are five reasons to book.

1. Ordinary objects, extraordinary fun

In this show, a toothbrush stars in a balancing act, a piece of string launches a movie heist, and a tea party appears, quite literally, on unsuspecting volunteers’ heads. It’s joyful, silly and full of surprises from start to finish.

2. No words needed

Because it’s silent comedy, the humour works across languages and ages, from toddlers to grandparents. That also makes it a great choice for families with mixed ages or children who are still learning English.

3. Award-winning and critically loved

Fresh from another hit Edinburgh Fringe run, the show was crowned Best Family Show at Brighton Fringe. The Scotsman called it absorbing, charming and great fun, and Broadway World described Darryl as a hilarious one-man laugh-maker.

4. World-class juggling and clowning

Darryl trained at Circomedia and has more than 20 years of circus and clowning experience, combining world-class juggling with inventive physical theatre. As a neurodiverse artist with ADHD, he’s also committed to increasing the visibility of neurodiversity.

5. Kids can be part of the show

Audience interaction is at the heart of the show, built around kindness and connection, so everyone gets to be part of the magic. Expect lots of laughter.
