Halloween 2026 | Brighton and Sussex, October half term
Heading to the coast this half term? Brighton and the surrounding Sussex countryside are full of spooky fun for all ages. Here are five ideas, based on Visit Brighton’s Halloween round-up.
1. Shriek Week at Drusillas Park (24 October – 1 November)
Between Brighton and Eastbourne, Drusillas Park zoo transforms for half term. Look out for the live-action Sugar Skull Witch gliding around the park, a Spider’s Den where experts introduce their eight-legged friends, and decorations everywhere for spooky selfies. It’s aimed at younger children and pitched as fun rather than frightening.
2. Halloween at Borde Hill (17 October – 1 November)
At Borde Hill Garden, mischievous owl Morticus Moonfeather is casting spells on the scarecrows in Pumpkin Patch Meadow. Follow the trail, meet the enchanted scarecrows and take on games and challenges along the way. It’s a gentle outdoor adventure that’s perfect for an autumn day out.
3. Creepy crafts at Brighton Dome (29 and 30 October)
If the weather turns, Brighton Dome’s Crafty Kids workshops are a great indoor option. Children can get creative with Halloween-themed crafts in one of the city’s most famous venues.
4. Cult horror films at The Depot, Lewes
For grown-ups, the Depot cinema in Lewes has a Halloween season packed with cult classics and director Q&As. It’s a short train ride from Brighton and a brilliant night out for horror fans.
5. Night-time Halloween kayaking
For something truly different, Visit Brighton recommends night-time Halloween kayaking, one of its grown-up picks for the season. And when you need to recover, the city’s spas are offering autumn treatments to help you relax before the festive rush. Check Visit Brighton for dates and booking details.
