Just in time for Halloween, the minds behind The Blair Witch Project are back with a new nightmare. The Influencer Project is a found-footage horror that takes aim at social media fame and obsessive fans, and it’s in UK and Irish cinemas from 16 October.

1. From the team behind The Blair Witch Project
In 1999, The Blair Witch Project changed horror forever and made found footage a genre of its own. Now its co-creator Eduardo Sánchez and producer Gregg Hale return to their roots with a very modern twist. Instead of a haunted forest, the danger here comes from the online world, and the fear feels unsettlingly close to real life.
2. A real influencer plays herself
British beauty and lifestyle influencer Chiara King leads the film as a fictionalised version of herself. She has more than 4.2 million followers on TikTok and 1.4 million on Instagram, and the story was inspired by her own experiences with stalkers. That personal connection gives the film a chilling, realistic edge, and it constantly blurs where the real Chiara ends and the character begins.
3. A documentary that turns into a nightmare
Chiara travels to Copenhagen with a documentary crew promising an unfiltered look behind the glamorous business of online fame. But as the cameras and her devoted fans follow her every move, someone else is watching too. When an obsessive stalker starts closing in, the documentary becomes something far more terrifying, blurring the line between content and evidence, follower and predator.
4. It’s about more than jump scares
The film tackles the controversies of social media and the dangers of parasocial relationships, where fans feel they know someone they’ve never met. It’s directed by Mike Nybroe in his feature debut, and it’s rated 18, running for 101 minutes. Watch the trailer below:
5. Perfect for a Halloween film night
Opening two weeks before Halloween, it’s ideal for a scary night out at the cinema with friends, especially if you’re into found-footage horror or spend a lot of time online. If you miss it on the big screen, it arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and digital platforms on 30 November.
