5 Incredible Cars at RM Sotheby’s London Auction, Including a Ferrari F40 and Aston Martin Valkyrie

London | Saturday 31 October 2026

RM Sotheby’s flagship UK car auction returns to The Peninsula London in Belgravia on 31 October, on the eve of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. After last year’s £24 million sale, this year’s line-up spans more than 125 years of motoring history. Here are five of the stars of the sale.

1. 1988 Ferrari F40

The F40 is very much the market’s car of the moment, and this one is special. It’s among the first 50 ever built, which collectors consider the purest form of the F40 and the closest to a race car, with sliding Plexiglas windows and no catalytic converter. Delivered new to a Ferrari dealer in Rome and later exported to Japan, it was fitted with race-inspired modifications, but it’s still in its factory-correct Rosso Corsa and could be returned to original. The estimate is £1.8 million to £2.4 million.

2. 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupé

This is one of only 150 coupés of Aston Martin’s ultimate road-legal hypercar, with 1,160 horsepower. It’s had one owner from new and has covered just 258 kilometres. Its bespoke specification, finished in Zenith White with blue-tinted exposed carbon fibre over a blue Alcantara interior, added almost £235,000 to the original list price. It’s also estimated at £1.8 million to £2.4 million.

3. 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8

Just 55 of these were built, and it’s considered the ultimate air-cooled RS Porsche. This example has had one owner since 1993 and is believed to be the only one finished in paint-to-sample Zermatt Silver Metallic. With RS Cup wheels and the wide body kit, and around 10,210 kilometres on the clock, it’s estimated at £800,000 to £1 million.

4. 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster

The 300 SL is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and this is the penultimate Roadster built. It has a rare, highly desirable specification including an alloy engine, disc brakes and a factory hardtop, and its chassis, body and gearbox all match. Presented in white over its original red leather, it’s estimated at £1.1 million to £1.3 million.

5. Veteran cars and a Bentley “Blue Train”

Fittingly for London to Brighton weekend, the sale includes two veterans eligible for the famous run: a 1903 Clément AC4R Rear-Entrance Tonneau, which has completed the run many times (estimate £350,000 to £450,000), and a 1901 Milwaukee 7 HP Steam Racer. There’s also a spectacular 1953 Bentley B Special “Blue Train” recreation by Racing Green, with a 6.5-litre straight-eight engine and three built-in drinks cabinets (estimate £370,000 to £430,000).
