After being named the world’s best new pastry shop in 2025 by La Liste, Claridge’s ArtSpace Café is starting a new chapter. It’s now called Claridge’s Art Café by Thibault Hauchard, after the hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef, and it has a new seasonal menu to match.
Here are five reasons to visit.
1. Award-winning patisserie
The star is still the Claridge’s Crest Cake, a chocolatey take on the hotel’s famous coat of arms. It’s joined by a new-look 100% Tahiti Vanilla Cake and a reimagined Crest made with intense brownie and hazelnuts. Everything is available to take away, and larger Crest cakes serving up to eight can be pre-ordered in chocolate or mango with 48 hours’ notice.
2. A playful new menu
Breakfast and lunch get a nostalgic, luxurious twist. Try Boiled Egg Soldiers with truffled cheese soldiers for dipping, or the new Art Café Waffles, served sweet or savoury with toppings from chorizo and Comté to melted chocolate and caramel. There’s also a Sweetcorn Fritter with fried egg, avocado and chipotle salsa, plus hot crêpes and crunchy salads.
3. The ultimate hot chocolate
As the weather cools, the signature hot chocolate is a must. Blocks of chocolate stamped with the Claridge’s crest are dunked into hot milk, and chocolate spheres melt away to reveal marshmallows inside. Coffee comes from Cornwall’s Origin Coffee, and wine and Champagne are served all day.
4. A free art gallery downstairs
Past the patisserie counter, steps lead down to Perrotin London, a huge gallery dug out beneath the hotel, with exhibitions that change throughout the year and are free to visit. Both the café and gallery were designed by celebrated British architect John Pawson.
5. A little taste of Claridge’s for everyone
Tucked away on Brook’s Mews alongside Claridge’s Bakery and Claridge’s Flowers, the café is open to all, with no hotel booking needed. The communal table is designed as a social meeting point, so it’s a lovely spot for a relaxed catch-up. “I am very honoured to have my name over the door,” says Thibault.
