One of west London’s loveliest festive traditions is back. Fulham Palace, the former home of the Bishops of London, is hosting its annual Christmas fair across the first weekend of December, starting with an adults-only Christmas Fair at Twilight on Friday 4 December. Tickets are on sale now.
Here are five reasons to book.
1. An adults-only evening with prosecco
Be first through the doors at the twilight preview on Friday 4 December. Your ticket, from £10, includes a complimentary glass of prosecco (there’s a non-alcoholic option too), and you can browse the stalls in a relaxed, grown-up atmosphere inside the beautifully decorated Palace. It’s strictly 18+.
2. More than 60 artisan stalls
The fair brings together a carefully chosen selection of small, local businesses selling fine foods, handmade crafts and thoughtful gifts. Stalls fill the historic rooms, a marquee and the main drive, so it’s a great place to tick off your Christmas list and find stocking fillers you won’t see on the high street.
3. A family fair for the weekend
On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December the whole family can come along, with tickets from just £3. Expect mince pies, choirs, a festive trail and a tuck shop selling mulled wine and candy canes. Father Christmas also visits the Palace, although tickets to meet him are booked separately.
4. Handmade wreaths from the Palace gardens
Don’t miss the Fulham Palace garden stall, where the gardeners and volunteers sell handcrafted wreaths, decorations and preserves. The museum shop will also be open with festive gifts, and there’s a gift grotto tombola with prizes donated by stallholders and local businesses.
5. Your shopping supports a historic site
Proceeds from the tombola go to Fulham Palace Trust, the charity that cares for the Palace and its gardens, and purchases from the Palace’s own stalls help support it too. It’s a feel-good way to start the festive season beside the Thames.
