Rammstein’s famously fiery stadium show is coming to the big screen. RAMMSTEIN – LIVE IN MEXICO CITY screens in more than 1,200 cinemas across over 40 countries on Wednesday 4 November, for a limited time only.
Tickets are selling fast around the world, from the US and Europe to Latvia, Costa Rica, Japan and Australia, and cinemas are adding extra showtimes to keep up with demand. Here are five things to know before you book.
1. It captures three huge nights in Mexico City
The film documents Rammstein’s three-night stand at Mexico City’s 65,000-capacity Foro Sol stadium on 1, 2 and 4 October 2022. Nearly 200,000 fans saw those shows in person.
The Mexico City dates were the finale of the band’s first and only North American stadium tour, which began in Montreal on 21 August 2022 and took in seven US stadiums along the way.
2. It’s directed by a concert film heavyweight
The film was shot in 4K by award-winning director Paul Dugdale, whose previous concert films include work with The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Elton John and Adele. Expect every flame and firework to be captured in full detail.
3. The setlist spans their whole career
The band powers through stadium-sized versions of career-spanning favourites, including:
- “Du Hast”
- “Sonne”
- “Deutschland”
- “Du Riechst So Gut”
- “Armee der Tristen”
There’s also a rare live performance of “Te Quiero Puta!”, which makes the Mexico City setting especially fitting.
4. It’s rock’s most ambitious pyro show
The shows came from Rammstein’s 2019 to 2024 global stadium tour, known for its enormous pyro-theatrical production. To bring the full show to North America, the band used seven 747 aircraft and more than 200 crew members.
The tour coincided with two albums: the band’s untitled 2019 record, which topped charts in 14 countries and reached the US Top 10, and ZEIT, released in April 2022. Rammstein’s line-up of Till Lindemann, Paul Landers, Richard Z. Kruspe, Flake, Oliver Riedel and Christoph Schneider has not changed since the band formed in 1994, and they have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide.
5. There’s a live album and home video too
If you can’t make a screening, RAMMSTEIN – LIVE IN MEXICO CITY will also be released on home video and as a full-length live album, with physical editions available to pre-order now.
The cinema release is handled by Trafalgar Releasing, the event cinema company behind Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, the highest-grossing concert film of all time.
