Hobbledown in Epsom has launched its first ever pumpkin event. Pumpkins, Play & Family Adventure runs from 26 September to 1 November, giving the adventure park a full autumn makeover with pumpkins, squashes and gourds taking centre stage alongside its much-loved play areas and animals.
Best of all, the pumpkin experience is included in general admission, with tickets from £16.50 per person when booked online. Here are five reasons to go.
1. The Lawn of Orange
At the heart of the event is the Lawn of Orange. Hobbledown’s front lawn disappears under thousands of pumpkins and gourds in every shape, size and colour.
Families can wander through the display and choose a favourite to take home. Pumpkins are bought separately on the day, so a good tip is to play first, meet the animals, and pick your pumpkin on the way out so you’re not carrying it around all day.
2. Pumpkin photo spots in The Thinkery
Step inside The Thinkery and you’ll find it lined floor to ceiling with pumpkins and autumn-themed photo displays. Look out for festival flags, giant “Pumpkin” letters, a pumpkin-laden trailer, a pumpkin cascade you can get “buried” in, and a photo frame for the perfect family picture.
3. A Trick or Treat Trail for half term
From 17 October and throughout the half-term holiday, younger visitors can follow the Trick or Treat Trail, meeting the Hobbledown characters and collecting sweet treats along the way. It’s a gentle, family-friendly way to get into the Halloween spirit.
4. Marshmallows by the fire and autumn treats
When the chill sets in, gather round the fire for marshmallow toasting (marshmallow sticks are an extra cost). There are also hot drinks and seasonal bites on site to keep everyone going between adventures.
5. A full day out with animals and play
The pumpkins are just the start. Your ticket also includes everything Hobbledown is known for:
- Zoo and farm animals, with walk-through enclosures
- Daily animal talks
- Indoor and outdoor adventure play
