A new production exploring identity, emotions and the labels we give young people is coming to Wimbledon this October. Created by Tangled Feet in partnership with Polka Theatre and The Culture Trust, Luton, A Class of Your Own combines physical theatre, music and video projection with the real experiences of young people who have experienced school exclusion.
Designed for children aged 8–12, the production explores what happens when we begin to believe the things other people say about us.
1. A World Premiere at Polka Theatre
A Class of Your Own premieres at Wimbledon’s Polka Theatre on 3 and 4 October 2026 before travelling to Luton’s Hat Factory Arts Centre on 10 October. The production is aimed at children approaching the transition from primary to secondary school, when questions about identity, friendships and belonging can become increasingly important.
2. Created with Young People Who Have Experienced School Exclusion
Over 18 months, Tangled Feet has worked with young people aged 16–18 who have attended Pupil Referral Units. Acting as Creative Advisors, they have shared their experiences through workshops, reflection and creative activities. Their perspectives have helped shape a production that challenges assumptions about young people who are labelled as difficult or disruptive.
3. Exploring the Emotions Bubbling Beneath the Surface
Everyone has feelings they struggle to express. Some are exciting, others confusing, frustrating or overwhelming. The show explores what happens when these emotions build up and how young people can begin to understand and communicate them. It also asks an important question: do the labels others give us have to define who we become?
4. Physical Theatre Meets Striking Video Projection
Directed by Tangled Feet’s Co-Artistic Director Nathan Curry, the production brings together ensemble acting, movement, music and integrated video design by award-winning designer Gillian Tan. Tangled Feet’s distinctive visual storytelling offers younger audiences an imaginative way to explore subjects that are not always easy to discuss.

Performances at 11.30am and 3pm on both days. Tickets cost £14, with a £2.50 booking fee per online or telephone order.

Performances at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Tickets cost £10, including the booking fee.
A Class of Your Own offers families an opportunity to enjoy inventive contemporary theatre while opening up conversations about emotions, school experiences, belonging and the importance of looking beyond labels.
