Dyson has moved into a completely new area with the launch of the Dyson CameraJet, a high-tech electric toothbrush that combines brushing, a built-in camera and targeted interdental cleaning. Launched on 1 September 2026, it is one of Dyson’s most unusual products yet – and at £419.99, certainly one of the most expensive toothbrushes around.
1. It has a tiny camera built into the toothbrush
The standout feature of the Dyson CameraJet is its 100,000-pixel macro camera positioned beneath the brush head. It can look inside your mouth while you brush, with the live view available through the MyDyson app. The idea is to help you see areas you may normally miss rather than simply relying on a timer and hoping you have cleaned everywhere.
2. It cleans between your teeth as you brush
CameraJet is designed to tackle one of the parts of tooth cleaning many people neglect: the gaps between the teeth. Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting technology analyses images from the camera, identifies interdental gaps and directs a cone-shaped jet of mouthwash towards them.
The system analyses images as you brush and is designed to target areas that may otherwise be difficult to reach.
3. The MyDyson app makes brushing much more technical
Connect the CameraJet to the MyDyson app and you can see a live image from inside your mouth while brushing. The technology is intended to give users more information about how effectively they are cleaning rather than treating brushing as the same two-minute routine every morning and evening.
It is perhaps the most typically “Dyson” part of the product: taking an everyday task and adding cameras, sensors, software and clever engineering.
4. Dyson has designed an entire dental system around it
This is not simply an electric toothbrush with an unusual brush head. The CameraJet incorporates a mouthwash reservoir and charging and refilling system, while Dyson has also developed products designed to work alongside the device.
The brush heads also contain technology that can help monitor wear and indicate when it might be time for a replacement.
5. The big question is whether a toothbrush can really justify £419.99
The Dyson CameraJet costs £419.99 in the UK, placing it firmly at the luxury end of the electric toothbrush market.
For that money, you are paying for far more than a vibrating brush. There is the camera, automatic gap detection, targeted liquid jet, app connectivity and Dyson’s usual focus on engineering and design.
Whether that makes it worth more than £400 will probably depend on how much you value having several parts of your dental routine combined into one device.
The Dyson CameraJet is certainly one of the most interesting new gadgets Dyson has launched. A toothbrush containing a camera and technology capable of finding the spaces between your teeth might sound excessive, but it also shows just how far the humble electric toothbrush has moved from simply spinning a brush head.
