Looking for things to do with children in London during October half-term 2026? Woolwich Works is putting on a packed autumn programme of family theatre, comedy and circus, with shows running throughout October and into November.
Here are five things families should know before planning a visit.
1. See There’s a Monster in Your Show during October half-term
One of the biggest family shows of the programme is There’s a Monster in Your Show, based on Tom Fletcher’s popular children’s books.
Expect colourful characters, original music and plenty of audience interaction as the stories make the move from page to stage.
There’s a Monster in Your Show is at Woolwich Works on Saturday 24 October 2026, with performances at 2pm and 4pm.
Tickets cost £16.50, with family tickets available for £59.40. The show is suitable for ages 2+.
2. Olaf Falafel brings some serious silliness to Woolwich
If your children like ridiculous jokes, drawing and general silliness, Olaf Falafel’s Stupidest Super Stupid Show So Far could be one of the best half-term choices.
Winner of Best Kids’ Show at the 2024 Leicester Comedy Festival, the show combines jokes, live drawing, time travel and some particularly unusual appearances from cheese.
It takes place on Tuesday 27 October at 11am and 2pm.
Tickets cost £13.50 and the show is recommended for ages 5+.
3. There’s circus too – including a Halloween spectacular
Woolwich Works is also bringing plenty of circus to south east London.
Out of the Box, on Sunday 25 October, combines circus skills, physical comedy and visual storytelling in a show aimed at children aged 3+.
Then Halloween gets a suitably spectacular finale with Spooky Circus on Saturday 31 October.
The show explores the stranger side of contemporary circus with aerial silks, hoop, straps, contortion and a fiery finale.
Spooky Circus starts at 8pm and tickets cost £15 plus a £2.50 booking fee.
4. The family programme continues into November
The fun does not finish when half-term ends.
Mr Sleepybum’s Dream Machine arrives on Sunday 8 November, followed by Boppin’ Bunnies for younger children on Saturday 14 November.
Captain Cauliflower and Marvin the Mischievous Moose follows on Sunday 15 November with music, storytelling and audience participation.
Then, on 29 November, Neon Sun – Roller Circus combines roller skating, circus stunts, urban dance, neon visuals and old-school hip-hop influences in what should be one of the most visually spectacular family shows of the season.
5. You can make a full family day out of Woolwich
Woolwich Works is based at the historic Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, making it easy to combine a show with a wider day out in this part of London.
The cultural venue has family-friendly public spaces, cafés and bars, while its riverside location gives families plenty of opportunity to explore before or after a performance.
It is also particularly easy to reach, with connections via the Elizabeth line, National Rail, DLR and Thames Clipper.
With children’s theatre, comedy, circus and interactive performances all appearing on the autumn programme, Woolwich Works could be one of the most interesting places to consider for October half-term in London in 2026.
